Golden Triangle |

|
This is a glorious Mountain ride. Head West from Calgary, through Banff and halfway from Banff to Lake Louise, turn South down Highway 93 to Radium. At Radium turn back North on Highway 95 to Golden. From Golden, head East back to Lake Louise, Banff and Calgary. Be careful of the 180 degree corners just East of Golden, traffic will be real slow and there is often rocks on the road (but if you want to scrape pegs, back off from the semi in front of you before the corner and have at it). NOTE: you can hit snow at any time of year, check weather before traveling. |

Going to the Sun |
1050 |
This is one of the most scenic rides you will EVER do! You start by heading South of Calgary on Highway 22, through the foothills with a fine view of the Mountains to the West. A quick jog to the East on Highway 3 followed by turning South on Highway 6, past Waterton Park all the way down to the Canada / U.S. border at "Chief Mountain". You are now into some serious twisties through this section which gradually gives way to some flatter territory as you continue on Highway 17 (Highway 6 in Canada becomes Highway 17 in the U.S.) until you hit the junction of Highway 89. South on this road to the town of St. Mary. Turn Right to enter Glacier National Park. Stop at the park gate and pay your U$5.00 and you are on an 85 kilometer road where you won't go much more than about 60KPH. The traffic will not be light but the view is fabulous. Exercise extreme caution, there are few if any guardrails between you and the bottom. This is coupled with with 180 degree hairpin corners, deer, motor homes, wet pavement, iron grills across the road, rocks on the road, tourists rubbernecking etc. But oh, what a glorious ride! When you get to the other side of the park (West Glacier), you can retrace your route back, take the South route back to St. Marys and head back or, head West from West Glacier and the North. Heading West and North has you on Highway 2, then crossing to 93 and over the boarder at "Port of Roosville". Then North on 93 all the way to Castle Mountain Junction (which is half way between Lake Louise and Banff). From there, it's East on the Trans-Canada highway back to Banff and Calgary. NOTE: you can hit snow at any time of year, check weather before traveling. Before August there may still be snow on the road although later in July should be fine. Past August and you can run into early snowfalls. |

Kananaskis |
275 |
Kananaskis is a Provincial park due West of Calgary. The most scenic way is to head out Highway 1A from Calgary and then head South down to Kananaskis. The turn off is a bit tricky, it is 50 kilometers from Cochrane to the turnoff. You'll know it when you see it as you will have been going through some nice corners when suddenly you come to a real straight, upgraded road with a 90 degree exit to the left. If you get to Exshaw you've gone too far. Alternatively, you can take the Trans-Canada West from Calgary and the exit is clearly marked. As you go through K-Country (as it's known), you'll be traveling through some real pretty mountain territory. Take time to explore and do take the side road up to the upper and lower lakes. As you continue on Highway 40, you'll summit at the Highwood pass. This road doesn't open till mid June because of migrating Wildlife. As you continue on this highway, you'll end up at Longview where you can turn North on Highway 22 back through Calgary. |

This is a ride through Farms, Foothills, Oil pumps and can continue onto the Mountains before turning back to Calgary. Weather determines if you can ride this route or not. If you can ride anywhere, it is likely that you can do this ride! |
